About the role:
EdStaff are seeking a forward thinking and committed SEND Teaching Assistant for a role at a SEND education base within a mainstream secondary school. The provision provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for pupils who need additional or tailored support, or benefit from smaller group sizes. Learners within the base have a range of additional needs, including ADHD, ASD, speech and language difficulties.
The school are looking for somebody who is calm, resilient and confident building positive relationships with pupils to provide a a nurturing learning environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about breaking barriers to learning for pupils. Experience of working with children is essential for the role, but we welcome applications from individuals with experience gained in:
- Children’s residential homes
- Mental health or disability support roles
- Youth offending services
- Sports coaching
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with additional needs in line with their EHCP
- Promote positive behaviour
- Work closely with class teachers and other education professionals, including the SENDCo
- Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding
Essential requirements:
- At least 5 GCSE (grade C/4 or above), including Maths and English
- Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or relevant experience in a similar setting
- Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour and/or reluctant learners
- Ability to engage pupils with SEND
- Flexible and adaptable
- Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
- Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
