About the Role
We’re representing a leading Top 60 UK accountancy and advisory firm based in Manchester, renowned for its client-focused approach, strong technical expertise, and impressive growth across the UK. Due to continued expansion within the Accounts team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Senior to join the practice.
This role offers the opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of clients, develop strong client relationships, mentor junior team members, and work closely with senior leadership. It is ideal for a qualified accountant looking to progress their career within a dynamic and forward-thinking accountancy practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, and directors’ personal tax returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
- Ensure accounts files are completed to a high standard and ready for Director review.
- Meet regularly with clients to discuss financial performance, accounting records, and business requirements.
- Review the work of junior team members, providing technical feedback and ensuring quality standards are maintained.
- Prepare final files and reports following Director review for client debrief meetings.
- Ensure statutory accounts and tax returns are submitted accurately and in line with compliance deadlines.
- Manage client workflows, deadlines, and budgets to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication and resolving queries promptly.
- Monitor client fee recovery and provide recommendations where fee reviews may be required.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues, apprentices, and developing accountants.
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional advisory and specialist services to existing clients.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and success of the Accounts team.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience within an accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, including FRS102, FRS102 Section 1A and FRS105.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, and personal tax returns.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing consolidated accounts.
- Proven track record of managing client relationships within a professional practice environment.
- Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior team members.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
