Reporting to the Procurement Director
1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading Tier one UK M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a senior buyer in their Bristol Regional Office
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in project management, particularly within the commercial sector or similar related projects with values up to £50M. Ideally, you will have experience of demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level.
Job Description
Help support procurement activity: market engagement, sourcing strategy, tendering, evaluation, contracting, and supplier management.
Support on construction category strategies aligned to our infrastructure plan and master schedule..
Source M&E services, terminal refurbishments and specialist trades (including enabling works).
Manage NEC, JCT and other standard‑form contracts and support commercial negotiations.
Ensure contract governance: risk allocation, cost tracking, change control and programme management.
Provide procurement input to feasibility, cost planning and gateway reviews.
Monitor supplier KPIs to secure value for money, quality, safety and programme milestones.
Advise ELT/SLT with market insights, risk analysis and options
The Successful Applicant should have
A strong understanding of end to end procurement's and have experience of of NEC or JCT contracts.
Proven experience as a procurement professional for construction and engineering projects.
Construction procurement experience, ideally in regulated/safety‑critical sectors (e.g., Commercial, MOD, Healthcare, Public sector, engineering etc).
Experience managing complex sourcing and contract performance frameworks.
Excellent stakeholder skills with the ability to influence at ELT/SLT level.
MCIPS qualified (or working towards).
