Senior Designer

An established engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Designer to support the delivery of complex industrial and energy-sector projects across the UK.

This is a contract role and can be outside ir35.

Suited to a motivated designer with strong experience in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design, capable of producing high-quality technical deliverables while supporting junior team members and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce safe, practical and cost-effective EC&I design solutions in line with project and company procedures
  • Develop design deliverables including:
  • Loop diagrams
  • Block cable diagrams
  • Schematic diagrams
  • 3D models
  • Prepare associated documentation such as:
  • Bills of materials
  • Cable schedules
  • Design packs
  • Material requisitions
  • Support proposal and project activities as assigned by the Lead or Chief Engineer
  • Mentor and support less experienced designers
  • Review and check drawings in accordance with internal quality procedures
  • Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Ensure designs are developed with safety, operability and risk management at the forefront
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure personnel are appropriately briefed and supported

Requirements

  • ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar EC&I / industrial design environment
  • Strong understanding of design working practices and installation requirements across industrial sectors
  • Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modelling tools
  • Experience with AVEVA PDMS is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of UK engineering legislation, standards and regulations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
