An established multidisciplinary property and environmental consultancy in Winchester is seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join its growing environmental team. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking consultancy delivering ecology input across a broad range of residential, commercial, rural, and infrastructure projects throughout the South of England. The consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering commercially focused and environmentally responsible advice across the property and land development sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering ecological consultancy services across a wide range of projects. Responsibilities will include managing ecological surveys, producing technical reports, supporting planning applications, and mentoring junior team members.
The role offers a balance of fieldwork, project management, client liaison, and technical delivery, with opportunities to contribute to business growth and team development.
Key Responsibilities;
Managing and delivering ecological projects from inception through to completion
Undertaking and overseeing protected species and habitat surveys
Preparing high-quality technical reports including PEAs, EcIAs, BNG assessments, and mitigation strategies
Providing ecological advice to clients, planners, and project teams
Supporting project management, budgeting, and programme delivery
Mentoring junior ecologists and assisting with team development
Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities
Requirements;
Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
Significant consultancy experience within the UK ecology sector
Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
Experience managing projects and coordinating survey programmes
Protected species survey licences desirable
CIEEM membership preferred
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Full UK driving licence
