An established multidisciplinary property and environmental consultancy in Winchester is seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join its growing environmental team. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking consultancy delivering ecology input across a broad range of residential, commercial, rural, and infrastructure projects throughout the South of England. The consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering commercially focused and environmentally responsible advice across the property and land development sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering ecological consultancy services across a wide range of projects. Responsibilities will include managing ecological surveys, producing technical reports, supporting planning applications, and mentoring junior team members.

The role offers a balance of fieldwork, project management, client liaison, and technical delivery, with opportunities to contribute to business growth and team development.




Key Responsibilities;

  • Managing and delivering ecological projects from inception through to completion

  • Undertaking and overseeing protected species and habitat surveys

  • Preparing high-quality technical reports including PEAs, EcIAs, BNG assessments, and mitigation strategies

  • Providing ecological advice to clients, planners, and project teams

  • Supporting project management, budgeting, and programme delivery

  • Mentoring junior ecologists and assisting with team development

  • Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities



Requirements;

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline

  • Significant consultancy experience within the UK ecology sector

  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy

  • Experience managing projects and coordinating survey programmes

  • Protected species survey licences desirable

  • CIEEM membership preferred

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills

  • Full UK driving licence
