Senior Ecologist - Newcastle

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Ecologist to join a growing environmental consultancy based in Newcastle. This role is ideal for an ambitious ecologist looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive, forward-thinking, and environmentally driven team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a diverse range of ecological projects across the UK, working alongside experienced professionals on residential, commercial, infrastructure, and conservation developments. This position offers the chance to influence projects from inception through to delivery while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of the ecology division.

As a Senior Ecologist you will:

  • Lead and manage ecological surveys, assessments, and reporting

  • Deliver protected species surveys and habitat assessments

  • Manage projects, client relationships, and project budgets

  • Support and mentor junior ecologists

  • Contribute to business development and tender opportunities

  • Liaise with planners, developers, and stakeholders

  • Ensure projects are delivered to a high technical standard and on time





The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

  • Several years' consultancy experience within the ecology sector

  • Strong report writing and project management skills

  • Protected species survey licences (desirable)

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • Membership of CIEEM (preferred)

  • A full UK driving licence
