Senior Hardware Engineer – Power Electronics

ARCA Resourcing is working with an innovative engineering company developing advanced electrification technologies for next-generation mobility applications. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to support the design and development of power electronics hardware from concept through to production release.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team working on traction inverters, DC-DC converters, onboard chargers and associated control electronics.
The Role
You will be responsible for the design, validation and production release of power electronics hardware, ensuring solutions are robust, manufacturable and cost-effective while meeting performance, reliability and compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing power electronics hardware including inverters, DC-DC converters, battery charging systems and associated control circuitry.
- Developing hardware through schematic design, PCB development, prototype build, validation and production introduction.
- Designing power stages, gate drives, sensing circuits, protection systems and communications interfaces.
- Conducting design reviews, FMEA, tolerance analysis and design-for-manufacture activities.
- Supporting component selection, supplier engagement, lifecycle management and cost reduction initiatives.
- Working closely with software, controls, systems, manufacturing and validation teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Supporting testing, EMC evaluation, root cause analysis and production issue resolution.
About You
You will have experience developing power electronics hardware within automotive, electrification, industrial, motorsport or related sectors.
Key experience includes:
- Design of DC-DC converters, traction inverters, battery chargers or similar high-power electronic systems.
- Understanding of power conversion topologies, gate drives, sensing, protection and interface circuitry.
- Knowledge of PCB design for power electronics, including EMC, thermal management and high-current layouts.
- Experience with design methodologies such as FMEA, derating, DFM, DFA and DFT.
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice or similar.
- Experience using electronic CAD tools, ideally Altium Designer.
- Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and production release activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
