Job Title: Senior Leasehold Manager
Location: Farringdon, Croydon, or Sittingbourne (Hybrid working available)
Rate: £21.98 per hour (PAYE) £28.66 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Leasehold Manager to provide expert oversight on all leasehold matters across a residential portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Property Management, you will ensure compliance with UK leasehold legislation, regulatory standards, and best practices, while leading on complex legal, tribunal, and governance issues.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in leasehold law, a commitment to customer service excellence, and the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the organisation’s technical expert on leasehold law and case law.
- Set and review processes to ensure compliance with leasehold legislation and Section 20 requirements.
- Interpret complex lease clauses covering service charges, repairs, insurance, and landlord/tenant obligations.
- Lead and manage First-tier Tribunal (FTT) cases, including disputes and lease variations.
- Oversee Right to Manage (RTM) claims, enfranchisement processes, and lease variations.
- Provide detailed lease analysis to identify risks, ambiguities, and defects.
- Ensure service charges comply with reasonableness, transparency, and trust accounting requirements.
- Manage dispute resolution related to service charge recovery and major works.
- Oversee managing agents, ensuring compliance with RICS Residential Management Code.
- Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated leaseholder protections.
- Develop governance frameworks and policies for leasehold compliance.
- Lead and oversee a team of leasehold managers and deputise for the Head of Property Management as needed.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Strong technical expertise in UK leasehold legislation and case law.
- Extensive experience in leasehold block management, including mixed tenure environments.
- Experience in legal aspects of leasehold law, including Sections 20 and 20B, and representing cases at Tribunal.
- In-depth understanding of FTT processes and dispute resolution.
- Knowledge of RTM, enfranchisement, and lease variation mechanisms.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in Management Information and CRM systems, as well as MS Office.
- Valid driving licence and ability to travel to offices, customers, and properties.
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) with passes in GCSE English and Maths.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of building and fire safety legislation.
- Member of TPI or RICS.
