Senior Mechanical Estimator - Building Services & MEP Contractor - Dublin

As part of ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team in Dublin.



The Role

Reporting directly to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for major mechanical building services projects. This role involves managing the tender process from enquiry through to submission and award, ensuring all commercial and technical requirements are fully considered.

This is a Hybrid/Office based position located in Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for MEP and building services projects.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs for HVAC, plumbing, process pipework, mechanical services, and associated systems.
  • Source and evaluate competitive supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Review subcontractor pricing to ensure compliance with project specifications and scope requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Prepare and present tender submissions to senior management.
  • Maintain robust tender document control and revision management.
  • Collaborate closely with Electrical Estimators and wider Pre-Construction teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior estimators.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures, standards, and quality control processes.
  • Independently manage large-scale, complex mechanical tenders from inception to submission.
  • Ensure all estimates account for project risks, contingencies, and market conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in resource planning and allocation within the estimating department.


Candidate Requirements



Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in Mechanical Estimating within a Building Services, MEP, or Mechanical Contracting environment.
  • Proven experience delivering tenders from enquiry through to contract award.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems, including:
    • HVAC Systems
    • Plumbing Services
    • Process Pipework
    • Heating & Cooling Systems
    • Ventilation Systems
    • Mechanical Plant and Equipment
  • Experience working on Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Commercial, Industrial, or Life Sciences projects is desirable.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction costs.


Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical materials, equipment, and installation methods.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong quantity surveying and cost planning capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tender submission deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
