The opportunity

A well-established international engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing Mechanical and Electrical team. The organisation delivers complex infrastructure projects across specialist sectors, including ports, harbours, and container terminals, supporting clients throughout the UK and internationally.

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a collaborative and highly regarded engineering environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of electrical infrastructure design projects throughout the full project lifecycle. Responsibilities will include the preparation and review of feasibility studies, detailed designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation, while working closely with clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

The position will also involve providing technical support during project implementation, including design assurance activities, technical reviews, responding to site-related queries, and contributing to testing and commissioning activities from a design perspective.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates will ideally possess a degree in Electrical Engineering and have approximately 5–10 years of experience in electrical infrastructure design. Equivalent experience and demonstrable technical expertise will also be considered.

Key skills and experience include:

• Proven experience delivering large-scale electrical infrastructure projects within the ports, harbours, marine, or container terminal sectors.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including LV and HV distribution networks, utility interfaces, and resilience strategies.
• Experience producing technical calculations, engineering reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software packages such as Amtech/Trimble, ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage responsibilities across multiple project phases.
• Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive and solution-focused approach to engineering challenges.
