Senior Ecologist - Team Leader Opportunity

An experienced and ambitious Senior Ecologist is sought to lead a growing ecology team within a respected environmental consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys balancing technical excellence with team leadership and project delivery. The successful candidate will take the lead on a diverse portfolio of ecological projects, managing surveys, assessments, mitigation strategies and licensing work across a range of sectors. They will provide guidance and mentorship to junior ecologists, helping to develop skills, maintain high technical standards and foster a collaborative team culture.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is passionate about ecology, confident in client-facing situations and eager to play a key role in shaping the future growth of a small, dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing ecological projects from inception through to completion.

  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members.

  • Overseeing survey programmes, reporting and technical quality assurance.

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Contributing to business development and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest professional standards.



Requirements;

  • Degree-qualified in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.

  • Significant consultancy experience within the ecology sector.

  • Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.

  • Proven project management and report-writing skills.

  • Protected species survey licences desirable.

  • Full UK driving licence.
