We are working with a highly respected and forward-thinking construction consultancy, to find an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their growing team in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable professional to take a leading role in delivering complex, high-profile projects across sectors including healthcare, education, and commercial property.

About the Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of major construction and development projects from inception through to completion. You will provide strategic direction across multiple projects, oversee project teams, and act as a trusted advisor to key clients and stakeholders.

This role offers the opportunity to influence project outcomes at a senior level, contribute to business growth, and mentor junior team members within a collaborative and ambitious consultancy environment.

Responsibilities of the successful Senior Project Manager:

  • Lead and oversee multiple complex projects and programmes through all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Provide strategic project leadership, ensuring delivery against time, cost, quality, and risk objectives.
  • Develop and manage detailed project execution plans, budgets, procurement strategies, and reporting frameworks.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary senior point of contact.
  • Chair client meetings, project reviews, and stakeholder workshops, providing clear direction and leadership.
  • Manage and mentor Project Managers and junior team members, supporting professional development and performance.
  • Identify and manage project risks, commercial issues, and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies where necessary.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, contractors, and specialist consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, governance procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Support business development activities, including client engagement, bid preparation, and networking opportunities.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and reputation of the consultancy through high standards of service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in project management within a construction consultancy or similar environment.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale or complex projects within healthcare, education, commercial, or public sectors.
  • Degree qualified in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status such as MAPM, MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Additional leadership or management qualifications would be advantageous.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value construction projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of project controls, risk management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software including MS Project and Asta Powerproject.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract. Experience leading projects within regulated sectors such as healthcare and education.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, modern methods of construction, and ESG principles.
  • Experience supporting business development and mentoring junior professionals.
