A growing multidisciplinary construction consultancy in London is looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to join its expanding team. This Senior Project Manager opportunity offers the chance to lead a diverse portfolio of capital projects across the public sector, working on schemes that have a genuine impact on communities throughout London and the wider UK.
This Senior Project Manager role would suit an experienced consultant who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with clients, consultants and contractors, leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring projects are delivered successfully against programme, budget and quality objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Manager seeking a varied workload across heritage, healthcare, education and local authority projects whilst helping to support the growth of an ambitious consultancy.
You must have prior construction consultancy experience as a Project Manager to be considered for this role.
The Senior Project Manager's role
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading capital projects through all stages of delivery, from initial brief development through to practical completion and handover.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as lead Senior Project Manager across multiple projects
- Developing project briefs and delivery strategies
- Procuring consultants and contractors
- Chairing project, management and coordination meetings
- Managing project programmes, budgets and reporting
- Directing and overseeing design team activities
- Undertaking risk management and implementing change control procedures
- Managing contract administration under JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Monitoring construction works through to practical completion
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Mentoring junior consultants and supporting team development
The Senior Project Manager
The successful Senior Project Manager will have:
- Significant UK construction consultancy experience
- Experience delivering capital projects within the public sector
- Strong refurbishment, conversion, extension and new build project experience
- Contract Administration experience under JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Experience managing projects through to Practical Completion
- Exposure to externally funded projects such as NLHF, ACE or DCMS-funded schemes would be advantageous
- A degree in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered status or progression towards MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent
- Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects within a growing consultancy environment
