Senior Quality Assurance Engineer | Portsmouth | 12-Month Contract

  • Location: Portsmouth (onsite, 5 days per week)
  • Duration: 12 months (likely extension)
  • Hours: 35 per week (working 4.5 days, early finish Fridays)
  • Rate: £36/hour Umbrella (£26.92 PAYE)
  • Security Clearance: BPSS+ required

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to support quality activities within a highly regulated manufacturing and production environment. This role is key to ensuring products meet defined quality standards and driving continuous improvement across Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver Quality Assurance (QA) activities to ensure compliance with processes and product requirements
  • Lead quality improvement and prevention initiatives within AIT operations
  • Develop and maintain Quality Surveillance Plans (QSP)
  • Create inspection instructions and plans, including Key Inspection Plans (KIP)
  • Chair quality and project gate reviews and ensure actions are closed
  • Manage non-conformances (NCRs) through to robust resolution
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques (e.g. PPS) to identify root causes
  • Chair Internal Review Boards (IRB) and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Review AIT work instructions for technical and quality compliance
  • Support SQCDP performance activities and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Produce quality reports and monthly KPI metrics
  • Act as QA focal point for critical production movements

Skills & Experience Required

  • HND or equivalent in engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong background in Quality Assurance within a regulated industry
  • Experience working in AIT or manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience managing non-conformance and corrective actions
  • Knowledge of inspection planning and quality documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Desirable

  • Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g. PPS, 8D)
  • Experience leading reviews and engaging with cross-functional stakeholders
