Senior Quantity Surveyor (Plymouth) – Fulltime
An opportunity to work on our KierBAM JV project in Plymouth, delivering major redevelopment works within Devonport Royal Dockyard over the coming years.
PAYE basis
Paid Holidays: 30 days per year (including bank holidays)
Must Have:
• Professionally qualified operator with at least 3 years post qualification experience or 5+ years relevant experience.
• Academic Qualifications in Quantity Surveying (HNC, BSc, MSc or equivalent).
• CSCS White PQP/AQP Card.
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Extensive experience within construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods and cost control techniques.
• Experience preparing cost estimates, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts, subcontracts and variations.
• Experience managing procurement processes and subcontractor packages.
• Strong commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
• Experience monitoring project progress and forecasting final costs.
• Ability to identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
• Experience preparing interim and final payment applications and valuations.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in quantity surveying software such as CostX, QS Suite or PlanSwift.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional accreditation such as RICS or CIOB preferred.
• Experience within Nuclear and Defence sectors advantageous.
• Must be eligible for BPSS Security Clearance.
• Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
This role is site based - Monday to Friday
42.5 hours per week 08:00am - 17:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates and project budgets
Conduct cost planning and cost control throughout project lifecycle
Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts and variations
Manage procurement processes and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
Monitor project progress and forecast final costs
Prepare interim and final payment applications and valuations
Maintain strong communication with clients, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and company standards
Prepare financial reports, cost analysis and commercial documentation
Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
Support successful commercial delivery of infrastructure and defence projects
Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff
Assist with dispute resolution relating to contractual and cost matters
