Senior Scientist - Antibody Discovery
Hays Life Sciences
Your new company
You'll be joining a global biopharma company advancing next‑generation antibody therapeutics. You'll work within a collaborative research environment focused on innovative immune cell engager programmes and data‑driven antibody discovery working across multiple therapy areas.
Your new role
As a Senior Research Scientist in antibody discovery, you will contribute to the identification and characterisation of high‑quality antibody candidates using advanced single B cell approaches.
Key responsibilities include:
- Discovering antibody variable domains using single B cell antibody discovery platforms
- Supporting immune cell engager programmes through generation of high‑quality antibody candidates
- Carrying out molecular biology workflows including PCR, library preparation, and NGS sample handling
- Helping analyse antibody sequence data using existing bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and AI‑enabled approaches
- Expressing and characterising antibodies using in vitro assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, and BLI
- Interpreting, documenting, and presenting experimental data to project teams
- Collaborating across discovery, platform, and computational teams to align strategy and timelines
- Engaging with emerging technologies to enhance antibody discovery approaches
This is initially a 12 month contract that has the potential to extend.
What you'll need to succeed
You should have:
- A PhD/MSc (or equivalent experience) in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Practical experience in antibody discovery, immunology, or related areas - with a strong preference for candidates who have gained this in an industry setting (eg at a pharma, biotech or Contract Research Organisation)
- A working knowledge/experience of using (single) B-cell platforms for antibody discovery/optimisation
- Hands‑on experience with cell culture and in vitro experimental techniques
- Familiarity with antibody characterisation techniques such as ELISA, flow cytometry, and BLI
- An understanding/basic experience with molecular biology workflows (PCR, NGS, sequence analysis)
- Strong communication, organisation, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Interest or experience in computational methods, bioinformatics, or AI‑driven discovery would be an advantage, as would a history of working in a project‑driven or matrix environment.
ALL candidates must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship until at least August 2027 (and preferably beyond this), as no sponsorship is available for this role.
What you'll get in return
You'll be joining experienced scientists in a supportive, high impact environment to work on cutting-edge immune cell engager therapeutics by applying advanced discovery platforms combining wet lab, NGS, and computational tools.
