Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Site Manager to join a well-established main contractor delivering high-quality residential new-build developments across London.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is ideally suited to an individual with a proven track record of managing large-scale residential developments from groundworks through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of site operations on residential new-build projects.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to ensure works are delivered in line with programme requirements.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in compliance with company health and safety procedures.
- Monitor construction progress and proactively address any issues impacting programme, quality, or productivity.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure high standards of workmanship and quality control are maintained.
- Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Team, and Design Team to ensure effective project delivery.
- Manage site logistics, sequencing, and short-term programming activities.
- Ensure all project documentation, site records, and reporting requirements are maintained accurately.
- Support project handover activities and ensure defects are managed effectively through completion.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager on residential new-build developments.
- Experience delivering multi-unit housing schemes, apartment developments, or mixed-use residential projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and residential building regulations.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate site teams and subcontractors.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black or White Card preferred), and First Aid certifications are essential.
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent) desirable.
