Overview

Our client is a leading Design & Build fit-out contractor with over 50 years’ experience delivering high-quality commercial interior projects across London. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Technical Designer to join the business.

This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the technical design process across multiple high-value fit-out projects, ensuring successful coordination between design, commercial, and delivery teams from pre-construction through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the technical design process across commercial fit-out projects.
• Coordinate and manage external consultants, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers.
• Ensure all technical drawings, specifications, and design information are fully coordinated and compliant with project requirements.
• Review design packages to ensure buildability, compliance, and programme alignment.
• Work closely with project delivery teams to resolve technical and design-related issues throughout the construction phase.
• Chair and lead technical design meetings with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage design programmes and ensure key deliverables are achieved within project timelines.
• Support pre-construction teams during tender and bid stages where required.
• Ensure compliance with current building regulations, health & safety standards, and industry best practice.
• Mentor and support junior members of the technical and design team, encouraging professional development and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Strong background delivering commercial fit-out or Design & Build projects.
• Excellent technical understanding of construction detailing, coordination, and project delivery.
• Experience managing consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Good understanding of UK building regulations and construction processes.
• Proficient with relevant design and coordination software.
