The Opportunity
We are seeking an organised and customer-focused Service Controller to join a busy service operation supporting heavy plant and construction equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced coordinator, scheduler, or service administrator to take ownership of a key role within a fast-paced engineering environment.
You will act as the central point of contact between customers, technicians, and management, ensuring service operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with compliance and safety standards. This role offers structured training and genuine progression opportunities for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and allocate service and repair work to technicians based on skills, availability, and location.
- Monitor job progress and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
- Prioritise breakdowns and urgent service requests to minimise equipment downtime.
- Optimise resource utilisation through effective planning and scheduling.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer service enquiries.
- Provide regular updates regarding job status, expected completion times, and associated costs.
- Build strong relationships with customers through proactive communication and responsive service.
- Resolve customer queries and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Support compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Monitor technician training records and certification requirements.
- Ensure service activities are scheduled and managed in accordance with operational and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and system updates.
- Generate and analyse service performance reports, including turnaround times and first-time fix rates.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support the wider service team with administrative and operational tasks.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a Service Controller, Service Coordinator, Planner, Scheduler, or similar role.
- Experience within heavy plant, construction equipment, engineering, transport, fleet, agricultural machinery, or industrial sectors is advantageous.
