Shift Engineer

Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join a major tunnelling scheme.

You will be responsible for setting out and overseeing a range of tunnel-related construction activities, including walkways, bridges, and cross passage packages, while ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications.

Shift Engineer Responsibilities: 

• Setting out works including walkways, access bridges, and cross passage packages.
• Supporting the delivery of tunnelling and associated civil engineering works.
• Setting out and supervising: Tunnelling works, FRC works, SCL works and Shuttering and concrete works.
• Ensuring works are completed in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
• Undertaking QA/QC inspections and maintaining quality records. 

Shift Engineer Requirements: 

• Previous experience working as a Shift Engineer on tunnelling, rail, infrastructure, or heavy civil engineering projects.
• Strong setting out experience using modern surveying equipment.
• Experience with tunnelling, FRC, SCL, and shuttering/concrete works.
• Good understanding of QA/QC processes and construction record keeping.

Essential Qualifications: 

• CSCS White Card 
• SMSTS or SSSTS
