Shift Production Manager
Location: Site-Based
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time
Salary: £34,500 – £37,000 + discretionary bonus & benefits


The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected food manufacturing business for an experienced Shift Production Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced production environment supplying high-quality products to retail, foodservice, and manufacturing sectors across the UK.


The successful candidate will play a key role in leading production teams, maintaining high standards across safety, quality, and efficiency, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.


Key Responsibilities
Production Management
  • Ensure customer orders are produced and delivered in full to agreed service levels.
  • Maintain product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Ensure technical and operational standards are achieved in line with company procedures.
  • Monitor and manage daily raw material stock levels.
  • Ensure staffing levels align with operational requirements and production plans.
  • Support training and development to maintain operator competency and machine capability.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained and operating safely.
  • Support daily production meetings and forward planning activities.

Health & Safety
  • Ensure all production activities are carried out in line with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a safe working environment across all production areas.
  • Ensure employees are fully trained and compliant with site safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.

Food Safety & Technical Compliance
  • Ensure all production activities comply with HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Monitor hygiene standards across production areas and equipment.
  • Ensure all staff follow company hygiene procedures.
  • Complete and maintain all required compliance documentation.

Production Planning & Team Leadership
  • Support and oversee daily and weekly production planning.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop production teams.
  • Drive operational performance to achieve and exceed customer service targets.

Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure products are manufactured to specification and quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve production or quality issues promptly.
  • Drive improvements in efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor KPIs including labour efficiency and output performance.

Candidate Requirements
Experience
  • Previous experience managing production teams within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to improve operational standards and team performance.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Skills & Competencies
  • Good understanding of food manufacturing processes and technical standards.
  • Strong planning and organisational ability.
  • Effective leadership and team development skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required.

Qualifications
  • Food Safety & Hygiene qualification essential.
  • Health & Safety qualification essential.
  • IOSH Managing Safely desirable.
  • Leadership or supervisory training desirable.
