Shift Technician - Data Centre / Critical Facilities

Location: Milan area, Italy

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Shift Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of a critical facility environment. The role will involve planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, site inspections, contractor supervision, and monitoring of building management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support the operation and upkeep of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure.
  • Perform regular site checks to ensure equipment and systems are operating correctly.
  • Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting, and first-line technical response.
  • Escort and supervise subcontractors working on-site.
  • Monitor facility systems through the BMS and escalate issues where required.
  • Ensure work is completed in line with site safety procedures, maintenance standards, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activity, and technical interventions.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in facilities maintenance, electrical maintenance, or a similar technical environment.
  • Good working knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on-site.
  • Previous exposure to data centres, critical environments, industrial facilities, or similar high-availability sites would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems would be beneficial.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong practical maintenance and troubleshooting ability.
  • Good attention to detail and a professional approach to site work.
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • English language skills would be an advantage.
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred.

Education

A technical diploma or relevant qualification is preferred, although equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
