Simulation Systems Engineer – HIL
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £46,000 + Excellent Benefits Package
A highly regarded engineering and technology organisation operating within the defence sector is looking to recruit a Simulation Systems Engineer to support advanced real-time simulation and test environments used in complex system development programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer seeking a hands-on technical role with exposure to mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and simulation-based systems.
The Role
As a Simulation Systems Engineer, you will support the maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of complex simulation facilities and associated control systems. The role combines practical engineering activities with fault-finding, systems analysis and technical problem-solving.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the operation and maintenance of multi-axis motion and positioning systems
- Maintaining simulation and control equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault resolution
- Interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Assisting with integration and testing activities within real-time simulation environments
- Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Contributing to continuous improvement and facility optimisation initiatives
This is a varied role requiring adaptability, strong technical judgement and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
Skills & Experience
Candidates with experience in some of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- Hydraulic or electro-mechanical systems
- Mechanical or electrical fault finding
- Control systems or automation principles
- CAD software (CREO experience advantageous)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Hands-on workshop or practical engineering skills
- Use of maintenance or management information systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
- Comfortable working in physically active engineering environments, including at height where required
Qualifications
Ideally degree qualified within one of the following disciplines:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics & Robotics
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Or a closely related engineering subject
