Site-based Project Manager - Fire Protection

Progroup Recruitment Limited

A leading fire protection contractor has secured a multi-million pound NHS project in Gloucester and is looking to appoint a Site-Based Project Manager to lead delivery from early-stage survey through to completion.

This is a long-term, single-site role (minimum 12 months), offering full ownership of the project lifecycle within a well-supported structure — including dedicated design and admin resource.

You’ll take the lead on a subcontractor-driven programme covering both active and passive fire works, working directly with NHS stakeholders to drive programme, quality, and site standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of site activity and subcontractors
  • Coordinating multiple workstreams across fire and M&E elements
  • Client liaison with NHS stakeholders and project teams
  • Managing H&S, quality, and compliance on-site
  • Programme management from survey phase through to completion
  • Ensuring subcontractors meet both technical and behavioural standards

What we’re looking for

  • Strong site-based Project Manager with hands-on delivery experience
  • Proven background managing subcontractor-led projects
  • Confident client-facing individual (stakeholder management essential)
  • Ability to manage programme, quality, and site standards
  • Fire protection experience
  • SMSTS (essential)
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • IOSH or similar (beneficial)

This role stands out as a long-term, secure opportunity on a single site (minimum 12 months), with a clear structure and dedicated admin and design support already in place. It offers full involvement from pre-con through to completion, alongside a strong pipeline of follow-on works, making it ideal for a Project Manager who enjoys being fully embedded in a project with the backing of an experienced leadership team and the stability of a secured programme of works.
