The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Site Engineer and Senior Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure contractor delivering a large-scale renewable energy project in the north of Scotland.
This role will support the delivery of complex civil engineering works by providing accurate engineering control, setting out, quality assurance, and technical support to site operations. The successful candidate will work closely with site management, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support

  • Provide accurate setting out and engineering control for construction activities using the latest approved drawings and design information.
  • Support the delivery of works in line with project specifications, programme, and quality requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of permits, task briefings, and work documentation for site activities.
  • Maintain accurate engineering and quality assurance records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and escalate any design discrepancies, technical queries, or incomplete information.

Project Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with site management and subcontractors to coordinate daily construction activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of temporary works solutions.
  • Assist with short-term planning and contribute to construction programme updates.
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Support and mentor junior engineering staff where required.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Promote high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality compliance across all site activities.
  • Carry out inspections and checks in line with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) where appropriate.
  • Support incident investigations, close calls, and observation reporting processes.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with company procedures and statutory regulations.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate site diaries, progress records, and resource tracking information.
  • Ensure all documentation is uploaded and maintained within project document control systems.
  • Provide measurement and progress data to support commercial reporting requirements.
  • Assist with project audits, inspections, and quality assurance activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, energy, or major construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of setting out, surveying, and engineering control processes.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, specifications, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Understanding of temporary works processes and construction sequencing.
  • Strong awareness of health & safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively on site.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • CSCS Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • SMSTS or SSSTS desirable
