Summary:We are seeking a competent and proactive Civil Site Engineer to join a team delivering civil engineering works within the AMP8 framework for United Utilities. The role involves providing accurate setting out, site coordination, and quality assurance across civils projects, ensuring all works comply with design specifications, health and safety standards, and environmental policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, liaising with subcontractors, preparing and implementing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and ensuring timely delivery of works. Experience in setting out, temporary works coordination, and managing quality documentation such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) is essential. The role demands strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform accurate setting out and survey control in line with contract drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate daily site activities, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of civil engineering works.
- Manage subcontractor compliance with RAMS, permits, consents, and quality requirements.
- Monitor and record site progress, including quality checks, non-conformance reporting, and as-built documentation.
- Support health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting a safety-first culture on site.
- Liaise with design teams, site management, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Assist in programme updates, resource planning, and supply chain management.
- Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, photographs, and inspection reports.
- Proven experience in civil engineering site roles within infrastructure or AMP frameworks.
- Strong setting out and surveying skills using GPS, Total Station, and digital instruments.
- Knowledge of construction methods, temporary works, and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Competent in preparing and implementing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and managing subcontractors.
- Civil/structural engineering knowledge with architectural fit-out experience (desirable).
- Surveying equipment: GPS, Robotic Total Station, EDM instruments
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- AutoCAD (desirable)
- Digital site management tools (e.g., Field View, Viewpoint) (desirable)
- Valid CSCS Card (essential)
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- SSSTS or SMSTS (preferred)
- Temporary Works Coordinator (desirable)
- NRSWA Supervisor (desirable)
- First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
- Experience working within NEC contracts (advantageous)
