A specialist civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Setting Out / Site Engineer to join a high-profile data centre project in Berlin, Germany. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale, technically complex, mission-critical development within a fast-paced and collaborative project environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Project Manager and Design Manager.
  • Review and interpret all design drawings, raising RFIs for clarification where required.
  • Ensure all civil drawings are reviewed prior to construction to confirm site readiness.
  • Carry out setting out works across all project phases including, Civils and groundworks, Reinforced concrete substructures, Precast concrete superstructure
  • Set out and monitor temporary works in coordination with the Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • Produce surveys of existing conditions and compile accurate as-built records.
  • Verify technical drawings and ensure correct revisions are used on site.
  • Conduct quality checks, maintain QA documentation, and provide photographic evidence.
  • Manage QA recording and reporting processes across all packages.
  • Participate in daily briefings and coordination meetings (DABs).
  • Maintain and update QA records and support project controls (e.g. programme tracking).
  • Monitor ongoing works to ensure quality standards are maintained at all stages.
  • Establish and maintain site benchmarks.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly QA meetings.
  • Carry out inspections and integrity testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of RAMS and briefing documentation.
  • Support the Temporary Works Coordinator as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in a Setting Out / Site Engineer role on large construction projects.
  • Experience on data centre, infrastructure, or other technically demanding projects is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of setting out equipment and surveying techniques.
  • Familiarity with QA procedures and site documentation processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to be based full-time in Berlin (relocation support may be available).
