The Opportunity

An established and growing organisation within the construction and property services sector is seeking an experienced Temporary Site Manager to join their team in Birmingham.

This is a full-time role overseeing site operations across a major social housing contract. A background or bias in roofing would be advantageous.

You will play a key role in leading site teams and subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

The Project

You will be working on a large-scale, long-term social housing contract delivering:

  • Repairs & Maintenance
  • Capital Works
  • Retrofit programmes

This contract supports over 20,000 residential properties, including a mix of low, medium, and high-rise buildings. It is a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain and enforce Health & Safety standards across all site activities
  • Produce and maintain up-to-date H&S records
  • Manage inductions for staff, subcontractors, and visitors
  • Monitor performance and provide coaching, training, and appraisals
  • Ensure work is delivered to specification and company standards
  • Maintain excellent site presentation at all times
  • Plan resources effectively and lead regular site meetings
  • Review and challenge subcontractor RAMS prior to approval

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 4 / HNC (or equivalent)
  • SMSTS certification
  • Scaffold Inspection qualification
  • Valid CSCS card (role appropriate)
  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • Asbestos Awareness (Duty to Manage desirable)
  • Strong understanding of building refurbishment projects
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Roofing experience
  • Membership of CIOB or similar professional body
  • Knowledge of ASTA planning software
  • Experience in affordable housing refurbishment projects
  • Knowledge of JCT / NEC contracts
  • Quality assurance processes
