The Role:

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of structural steelwork projects on site, ensuring works are completed to programme, budget and the highest quality standards.

You will act as the key site-based representative, coordinating subcontractors, site teams, clients, main contractors and internal departments to ensure successful project delivery from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day site operations on structural steelwork projects.
  • Coordinate steel erection activities and associated subcontractors.
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and site requirements.
  • Produce and review RAMS, lift plans and site documentation.
  • Monitor programme progress and proactively address any delays or issues.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets project specifications.
  • Attend site meetings with clients, principal contractors and design teams.
  • Manage labour, plant and material resources effectively.
  • Ensure accurate site records are maintained, including progress reports and site diaries.
  • Liaise closely with project managers, design teams and fabrication departments to coordinate deliveries and installation sequences.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across all projects.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within the structural steelwork industry.
  • Strong knowledge of steel frame erection and associated construction activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial, education, healthcare or refurbishment projects.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SMSTS
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid at Work
  • Appointed Person or Crane/Lifting Operations experience (advantageous)
  • Temporary Works knowledge (advantageous)
