Hybrid / Remote working: 4 days a week likely onsite. A compressed 4 day week (Monday to Thursday) a possibility.
Contract: 37 Hours per week
Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’
Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)
Software Test Engineer Job Description:
An exciting opportunity to work as a Software Testing Engineer within the Environment Simulators team based in our Stevenage office with our simulation developers. The Simulation Software department is at the forefront of developing simulations for the Weapon System and sub-systems teams using the full development life cycle and agile methodologies. Our simulations follow best practices and capability to ensure our products are rigorously tested, fit-for-purpose, and ready for delivery. As a Software Testing Engineer, you aren't just finding bugs; you are a Quality Advocate ensuring our simulations are mission-ready.
Reporting to the Group and Project Leads, you will be responsible for the end-to-end software testing and proving lifecycle for our simulation software releases and software defects. Your responsibilities will span planning, conduct, and reporting:
- Test/Proving Planning
- Understanding Customer needs and requirements from a proving perspective.
- Understanding design and architecture including defining software test bed requirements.
- Developing comprehensive software test plans, writing, and running test sets, designs, and specifications.
- Test/Proving Conduct
- Regular progressive software testing assurance during software development cycles.
- Leading testing of software defects.
- Liaising with our Support team in order to provide logs/data analysis when issues are identified.
- Demonstrate compliance to requirements.
- Executing formal software qualification testing.
- Test/Proving Reporting
- Providing regular updates to project leads and stakeholders on software functionality.
- Writing detailed software test and analysis reports for certification purposes.
- Supporting the software delivery and release process, including final certification activities.
- Technical Knowledge
- Software Test automation
- Understanding software Logs/Data analysis
- CI/CD software pipelines
- GitLab, JIRA, scripting, IBM PLM/ ALM/ EWM /Doors
- Knowledge of Agile Scrum
- Ability to understand (or experience with) compliance and regulatory requirements
- AI test automation tooling (Desirable)
- Software Simulation/Emulator knowledge (Desirable)
- Linux Network Configuration and analysis tools (Desirable)
