Solution Architect – Cloud, Microservices, Financial Services

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of end-to-end technology solutions across large-scale digital transformation programmes within financial services.

This role focuses on modernising legacy/mainframe systems into cloud-based microservices architectures, working closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and delivery leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design end-to-end solution architecture (applications, data, integration, security, infrastructure)
• Lead legacy to microservices transformation initiatives
• Define API, integration and event-driven architectures
• Ensure scalability, performance, and security across cloud platforms
• Collaborate with stakeholders and guide engineering teams through delivery
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical leadership

Key Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect / Technical Architect
• Strong background in microservices, APIs, REST, event-driven architecture
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of mainframe / legacy systems (COBOL or similar)
• Hands-on experience with Java or .NET
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
• Experience in financial services (banking, insurance, pensions preferred)

Desirable:

• Domain-driven design (DDD), data architecture, or data mesh
• Experience in pensions or annuities platforms
