We’re excited to offer a brilliant opportunity for a Strategic Buyer within our Defence Division in Derby.

About the role:

Reporting to the Defence Director the Strategic Buyer role works closely with our Commercial Team negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships whilst leveraging data to drive commercial benefit to the business.

Excellent collaboration and stakeholder relationship skills are critical to this role. You’ll leverage your prior procurement or buyer experience to confidently deal with high profile customers and suppliers, driving performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience from an aerospace, defence, manufacturing or similar sector background sourcing engineered components and commodities.

You’ll have expert excel and IT skills, be extremely analytical and will have a love of spreadsheets (pivot tables / VLOOKUPS). Typical research activity will include spend tracking, internal feedback and detailed analysis.

What we’re looking for in our Strategic Buyer

  • Excellent commercial acumen and strong procurement background
  • Experience of analysing margin trends, data and commercial terms.
  • Strong Strategic acumen to understand pricing strategies
  • Ideally background within Aerospace, defence or manufacturing.
  • Exposure to commodity purchasing.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Loves to be in the detail but also operate at a strategic level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an analytical mindset.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI
  • A degree is not a pre-requisite for this role. Passion and commitment are.
  • CIPS qualification desirable.
