An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Streetworks Inspector to support a busy highways network management function during a sustained period of project and utility activity. This role will focus on monitoring live and completed streetworks activity, ensuring compliance with NRSWA legislation, safety standards, and reinstatement specifications across the highway network.
 
This is a hands-on inspection and enforcement role suited to someone with strong highways and streetworks experience who is confident dealing with utilities, contractors, and the public in a fast-paced operational environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
·Carry out inspections of live and completed streetworks sites.
·Monitor compliance with NRSWA 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004 requirements.
·Issue defect notices and enforcement actions where required.
·Inspect reinstatements in line with statutory specifications and Codes of Practice.
·Assess signing, lighting, and guarding arrangements on site.
·Undertake investigatory and sample inspections and maintain accurate records.
·Liaise with utilities, contractors, highways teams, and stakeholders regarding compliance issues.
·Support evidence gathering for prosecutions, cost recovery, and Fixed Penalty Notices.
·Attend site meetings and advise on traffic management and highway safety requirements.
·Respond to complaints relating to roadworks disruption and highway activity.
 
Requirements
·Accredited NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor qualification.
·Strong working knowledge of NRSWA 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004.
·Experience inspecting highway reinstatements and streetworks activity.
·Knowledge of relevant Codes of Practice for inspections and safety at streetworks.
·Highways or civil engineering background with strong technical judgement.
·Confident communicator with the ability to challenge unsafe or non-compliant working practices.
·Full UK driving licence.
 
This contract offers long-term potential, autonomy in the role, and the opportunity to work on a high-volume network management programme with immediate starts available.
