Structural Engineer
Location: Oxfordshire
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer with a minimum of three years' post-graduate experience to join an established consultancy team in Oxfordshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of residential and commercial developments, ranging from bespoke private dwellings and housing schemes to commercial, mixed-use, and refurbishment projects. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of project delivery, from initial concept design through to construction.
The Structural Engineer role:
As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of structures in a variety of materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry. You will work closely with architects, developers, contractors, and fellow engineers to deliver practical, efficient, and innovative design solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking structural design calculations and preparing technical reports.
- Producing and reviewing structural drawings and specifications.
- Designing structural elements for residential and commercial buildings.
- Carrying out site inspections and providing construction support.
- Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, and local authorities.
- Assisting with project management and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Supporting junior team members and contributing to a collaborative working environment.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- At least three years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
- Experience working on residential and commercial building projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and relevant design standards.
- Proficiency in structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, MasterSeries, or similar.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- A proactive approach and a desire to develop professionally towards Chartership.
