Substance use Support worker

Two Birds One Stone Ltd

About the Organisation

TBOS Healthcare Solutions Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, national not-for-profit organisation providing mental health, substance use and social support services across England. Our client supports thousands of people every year — helping individuals facing challenges around mental health, alcohol, drugs, gambling and related issues to live safer, healthier and more independent lives. With a strong reputation across the sector and a genuine commitment to recovery, this is an organisation where you can make a real and lasting difference in your community.

About the Role

We are seeking a Substance use support worker to join a recovery-focused service supporting adults aged 18 and over in the Leeds area. This is a rewarding opportunity to coordinate and deliver person-centred support, helping people regain independence, confidence and stability during difficult periods in their lives. Working as part of a multidisciplinary, rota-based team, you will hold a caseload, develop and review personalised recovery plans, and support individuals to work towards their personal goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and deliver person-centred support for adults accessing the service.
  • Hold and manage a caseload, acting as a key worker for individuals on your roster.
  • Develop, implement and review personalised support and recovery plans.
  • Help people maintain their independence and develop practical life skills.
  • Encourage and support access to education, employment, leisure and community opportunities.
  • Assist with developing domestic, budgeting and tenancy-management skills.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with people using the service.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partner agencies.
  • Participate in a rota system, including evenings, weekends and on-call duties where required.
  • Contribute to a supportive, respectful and empowering environment for recovery.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in a health, social care or support setting (recovery, mental health or substance use desirable).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all backgrounds.
  • The ability to manage a caseload and coordinate support effectively.
  • Someone who thrives under pressure and can remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • A positive and recovery-focused mindset.
  • A flexible team player who can also work independently when needed.
  • An understanding of mental health and/or substance use issues; lived experience is welcomed, although full training will be provided.
  • Commitment to working within a rota system, including flexibility for shift work and on-call duties.

What We Offer

We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package:

  • 27 days’ annual leave, rising to 32 after 1 year (plus bank holidays)
  • Pension scheme with 4.5% employer contribution, matched up to 6.5%
  • Life assurance (3× annual salary)
  • Enhanced sick pay and family-friendly pay
  • Birthday leave and the option to buy up to 5 extra days’ annual leave
  • Professional fee reimbursement for relevant qualifications
  • 24/7 online GP access and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Recognition and long service awards
  • £500 Recommend a Friend bonus
  • Cycle to Work scheme and Credit Union membership
  • Discounts via Blue Light Card, charity discounts and other retail and leisure schemes
  • Free will writing service and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year
