As Supply Chain & Inventory Operations Controller, you will take ownership of end‑to‑end supply chain, procurement and inventory management across contract manufacturers and internal R&D operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials availability, cost optimisation and supply chain resilience.

You will act as the main interface between engineering teams, suppliers and OEM/CEM partners, supporting both commercial production and R&D programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate visibility of inventory across outsourced manufacturing and R&D stock
  • Own inventory control using MRP or similar ERP/SAP systems
  • Align material availability with forecasts, production plans and order pipelines
  • Manage OEM/CEM relationships, including stock, Work In Progress and delivery performance
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiation, onboarding and ongoing performance management
  • Support R&D and specialist engineering projects with rapid, low‑volume sourcing
  • Drive BOM cost‑reduction initiatives in collaboration with engineering and suppliers
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including shortages, lead times and single‑source exposure
  • Ensure procurement processes meet compliance and quality requirements

To succeed in this varied and key role you will ideally have:

  • Proven supply chain and procurement experience within manufacturing, electronics or related engineering / production environment
  • Strong experience working with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) OR contract electronic manufacturer (CEM) partners and outsourced manufacturing
  • Hands‑on ERP/MRP experience essential
  • Successful supplier negotiation and inventory management track record
  • Demonstrated Bill of Material (BOM) cost‑reduction experience
  • Whilst not essential, any experience supporting R&D or NPI environments or knowledge of electronics or component supply chain would be desirable
