A day in the life of a Murphy Supply Chain Lead
- Lead the development and delivery of the supply chain strategy for BMJV on the Lower Thames Crossing Project.
- Shape supply chain structuring, capability planning and market engagement.
- Oversee supplier performance and relationship management to drive continuous improvement, efficiency and value.
- Manage and continue to embed ISO 44001, promoting collaborative behaviours and long-term relationships with key partners.
- Lead local and SME engagement, including Supply Chain Roadshows and Meet the Buyer events.
- Embed social value, carbon reduction and community commitments into supply chain strategies and supplier performance frameworks.
- Monitor supply chain capacity, financial resilience and risk, providing clear insight and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support innovation and modern methods that improve cost efficiency, buildability, programme certainty and sustainability.
- Ensure contractual compliance and governance across the supply chain.
- Act as a key interface between suppliers, project teams, internal departments and the client.
- Produce reports, data and insight to support decision-making and KPI delivery.
- Visit sites and supplier premises as required to support effective engagement and performance management.

- Strong background in supply chain management within major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience operating at a strategic level, influencing delivery outcomes rather than managing day-to-day buying.
- Experience in supplier relationship management and collaborative working (ISO 44001 desirable).
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders, supply chain partners and clients.
- Comfortable presenting to supply chain audiences at events and engagement forums.
- Strong understanding of construction processes from pre-construction through delivery.
- Commercially aware, with a good working knowledge of contracts and risk.
- Passionate about delivering social value and sustainable supply chains.
- Strong organisational, communication and time management skills.
- High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Construction, engineering or infrastructure background preferred.
