Sybase DBA - Contract (Inside IR35) - 6 Months
My client a leading global bank are looking for an experienced Sybase DBA to join their team. This role supports mission-critical environments and requires strong expertise in Sybase ASE and Replication Server within fast-paced enterprise settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and maintain Sybase ASE and Replication Server environments
- Perform upgrades, patching, migrations, and platform transitions (RHEL7/8 → RHEL9)
- Monitor and optimise database performance, resolving bottlenecks, deadlocks, and query issues
- Manage backup, recovery, and high-availability/DR solutions
- Provide L2/L3 production support and assist development teams
- Automate routine tasks and maintain robust documentation and compliance standards
- Participate in on-call support rotation
Required Skills:
- 5+ years' Sybase DBA experience (ASE & Replication Server)
- Strong SQL tuning and performance optimisation expertise
- Experience supporting 24/7 production environments
- Solid Unix/Linux and scripting skills
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable:
- Cloud exposure (Azure or AWS)
- Automation tools (Python, Ansible)
- Experience in large financial services environments
