About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-focused Teacher of A Level Sociology to join our successful Social Sciences department on a 0.6 FTE basis. The successful candidate will be passionate about Sociology education and committed to delivering high-quality teaching that inspires students to achieve their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ambitious early career teacher looking to contribute to a thriving sixth form environment with a strong academic ethos.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and effective A Level Sociology lessons.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and support.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain accurate student records and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Support students’ academic achievement and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote high standards of teaching and learning.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • A relevant degree in Sociology or a related subject.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) with QTS or QTLS status.
  • Experience teaching A Level Sociology.
  • Strong subject knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to motivate and engage young people.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable
  • Experience within a sixth form or further education setting.
  • A track record of strong student outcomes.
  • Experience contributing to enrichment or wider college activities.
