We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teacher of PSHE to lead and deliver a high-quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a specialist SEMH setting.
About the Role
You will be responsible for designing and delivering a sequenced, engaging and highly relevant PSHE curriculum that meets the needs of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The curriculum will include:
- Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
- Health Education
- Careers education and preparation for adulthood
- Life skills, emotional literacy and wellbeing
- Financial education and citizenship
- Safety, safeguarding and online safety
The Ideal Candidate
This role would suit:
- A qualified Secondary PSHE specialist
- A teacher with experience in RSE, Citizenship or Personal Development
- A teacher with strong pastoral experience and a passion for holistic education
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a progressive PSHE curriculum tailored to SEMH learners
- Ensure full statutory compliance for RSE and Health Education
- Embed safeguarding, online safety and risk awareness throughout lessons
- Promote pupil voice, reflection and personal development
- Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and external agency teams
- Contribute to whole-school personal development strategies
- Support learners in developing skills for independence and adulthood
- Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
- Skilled in building positive and consistent relationships
- Confident in behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
- Creative, flexible and committed to inclusive education
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and pastoral care
- A supportive and collaborative staff team
- A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development
