The role

Start date/ End date: September 2026 – December 2026

Days / hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am-3:30pm  

Pay: £92.63 – 95 per day

Location: Cardiff (CF3)           

Teaching personnel is looking for a teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis supporting a child with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

This will be a long-term position working in Key Stage 2 (KS2) providing extra support to a child with ASD. Helping them develop confidence, access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will need to work closely with the class teacher and the Additional Learning Needs Co-Ordinator (ALNCO).

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to an ALN pupil
  • Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.

About the school

In 2019 they were federated with another local primary school. They are a busy, friendly community school welcoming around 250 students and aim to be in the middle of the local community. The school has excellent has transport links or free parking if you drive.

About you

We are seeking a teaching assistant who is: 

  • Confident in 1:1 work
  • Passionate in delivering the best environment for children to learn  
  • Empathetic and compassionate  
  • Experienced with ALN (specifically ASD)
  • Able to commit to a long-term position  
  • Experience with KS2

What you will require

  • An enhanced child DBS 
  • A live EWC registration 
  • And at least 3 months experience in working within a school or a Teaching Assistant qualification.
