Teaching Assistant – PMLD / SLD

We are currently recruiting for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) across specialist schools in the Hillingdon and Hounslow areas.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with complex learning and physical needs within specialist educational settings.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, therapists, and medical professionals to support students both academically and with personal care where required.

Students may have a combination of:

  • Complex learning difficulties
  • Physical disabilities
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Sensory needs
  • Communication difficulties
  • Medical needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with PMLD and SLD
  • Assist with sensory and communication-based learning activities
  • Support students with personal care and mobility where required
  • Help implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Encourage student engagement and independence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN essential
  • Experience working with PMLD, SLD, ASD, or complex needs desirable
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs
  • Calm, patient, and caring approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Manual handling or Team Teach training advantageous but not essential
