We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Bristol. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support both in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis. Pupils may have a variety of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and complex communication or physical disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with their learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Work one-to-one or with small groups of students.
- Assist with implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning activities.
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably within an SEN setting.
- A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and respond positively to challenges.
