The Education Specialists are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support young people age 14-16 years with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) to start after May half term.  This position is long term until July with the opportunity to secure a permanent position with the school in September.

This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a warm and welcoming team.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Support students who may struggle with confidence, behaviour, or emotional regulation
  • Help children rebuild their relationship with learning, celebrating small steps and progress
  • Be a calm, positive role model—someone they can look up to and trust
  • Work alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to provide consistent, compassionate support
  • Assist with classroom activities, small-group work, and individual interventions tailored to students’ needs

What We’re Looking For

The right person will be:

  • Genuinely committed to helping children re-engage and feel confident in school
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, bringing energy and positivity to each day
  • A strong role model, showing patience, resilience, and empathy
  • A team player, able to work closely with colleagues to provide a nurturing, structured environment
  • Understanding and supportive, recognising that each child’s journey is unique
  • Experience with SEMH or SEND is helpful but not essential—we value your attitude and your ability to connect with young people above all.

What We Offer

  • A caring, dedicated staff team who will support you from day one
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • A chance to make a meaningful impact on children’s wellbeing and learning
  • A positive, inclusive environment where every child—and every staff member—is valued
