About the Role

Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced and driven Team Manager to lead our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is a pivotal leadership role where you will coordinate safeguarding decision-making at the front door of children's services, ensuring timely and effective responses to concerns.

As Team Manager, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team, working in close partnership with key agencies including police, health, and education, to protect vulnerable children and young people. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

  • Location: Landmark House, Ipswich
  • Rate: £45.50 per hour
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2/3 days in the office
  • Contract Type: Temporary

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and supervision to a team of Social Workers and practitioners within the MASH.
  • Make timely, defensible management decisions in line with the Suffolk Thresholds Document and statutory guidance.
  • Oversee screening, triage, and risk assessment of all incoming safeguarding referrals.
  • Ensure high-quality practice standards, with robust recording and clear decision-making.
  • Drive performance management, ensuring KPIs and service targets are met.
  • Lead on quality assurance activities, including audits, reflective supervision, and continuous service improvement.
  • Promote effective multi-agency collaboration, working closely with partners across police, health, education, and other services.
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and regular supervision, fostering a positive team culture.
  • Manage complex and high-risk cases, providing oversight and direction where required.
  • Contribute to the wider service by supporting strategic development and operational improvements within MASH.

Experience/Skills

  • Significant experience within MASH or front-door safeguarding services
  • Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-qualified social work experience
  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams, ideally within children's services
  • Strong working knowledge of safeguarding legislation, thresholds, and statutory frameworks
  • Excellent decision-making, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
