We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Estimator to join our growing team within the fasteners and engineering sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical and commercial knowledge to play a key role in supporting customer enquiries, quotation preparation, and manufacturing planning.

The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Production, and suppliers to deliver accurate and competitive quotations while providing technical support across the business.

Experience within the fasteners industry is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Technical Support

  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, including material costs, labour estimates, and manufacturing routes.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Identify the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Assess subcontract and external sourcing opportunities where commercially beneficial.
  • Support contract reviews for both standard and technical orders.
  • Ensure quotations and technical documentation are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Apply knowledge of fasteners, materials, coatings, and manufacturing capabilities to customer enquiries.

Supplier & Purchasing Support

  • Obtain pricing and lead times from UK and overseas suppliers.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding technical and commercial requirements.

Sales & Customer Support

  • Provide technical support to the Sales Team throughout quotation and order processes.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding technical enquiries.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within the fasteners industry.
  • Strong understanding of fastener products, materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Good engineering and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Desirable

  • Previous estimating experience within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Knowledge of machining, cold forming, fabrication, or subcontract manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with suppliers and purchasing activities.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30

Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
