About the role:
Blighter Surveillance Systems is looking to recruit a Technical Writer to help develop and maintain documentation for the hardware and software that comprise our radar systems. Responsibilities of the role include;
- Writing user documentation for new hardware and software products
- Updating Blighter’s existing user-facing product documentation to reflect the latest revisions
- Establishing practices and processes to ensure long-term documentation support
The team at Blighter is small and flexible. We are looking for someone capable of working on their own initiative, but who also appreciates the vital importance of collaborating and communicating effectively with other engineers and end users. In-depth knowledge of radars is not required - training on Blighter radars and systems will be provided, with many opportunities for hands-on experience.
You will have the following skills and abilities:
- Excellent written communication skills
- The ability to understand technical concepts from a user’s perspective
- Skilled/advanced user of Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of the current best-practice and latest methods of product documentation
- The ability to create diagrams and edit images for documentation
You will have the following background and experience:
- Experience writing documentation for mixed hardware/software systems
- Experience writing for defence or security sector users
- Experience modifying an extensive set of existing documentation
The following skills & experience are beneficial, but not mandatory:
- Use of single-source publishing methods & processes
- Writing documentation for complex user interfaces.
Please note this role is a 2-year fixed term contract
