Key Responsibilities
1. Operate the telehandler: Drive safely, use boom controls to lift, extend, and place loads
2. Attachment swaps: Change forks, buckets, pallet grabs, or grabs as needed
3. Load handling: Check load weights, keep loads low/tucked in when travelling
4. Site safety: Watch for pedestrians, obstructions, and uneven ground
5. Pre-use checks: Daily inspections of brakes, tyres, hydraulics, lights
6. Lifting ops: Follow lifting plans if lifting people (MEWP rules apply then)
7. Compliance: Follow PUWER, LOLER, site rules, and manufacturer’s manual
Requirements – UK 2026
- Qualifications: CPCS or NPORS card for telehandlers (A33/A34 or equivalent). Site-specific tickets needed for some clients
- Experience: 1-3 years operating telehandlers. Experience with attachments helps
- Tickets: CSCS card (green or gold), telehandler-specific training (e.g., RTITB)
- Skills: Good spatial awareness, smooth controls, and communication
