Our client, Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking a Traffic Management Lead Operative to join their Cheshire East Highways contract on a permanent basis, based in Nantwich.
The Role
As a Traffic Management Lead Operative, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient and compliant traffic management across the highway network. Working within a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment, you will lead a small team to install, maintain and remove temporary traffic management, ensuring the safety of road users, colleagues and the wider public at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working as part of the highway maintenance operational team.
- Managing and directing a small traffic management team on site.
- Installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management on low‑speed roads, including cones, signs, frames, sandbags and associated equipment.
- Installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic signals, from two‑way traffic control through to multi‑phase traffic control.
- Ensuring traffic signal units are correctly installed and batteries are fully charged and operational.
- Taking responsibility for traffic management on site and ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Collecting traffic management equipment from sites once projects are completed.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience delivering highway maintenance traffic management on site.
- A current, valid driving licence (LGV Class 2 is desirable).
- NHSS 12 A/B Traffic Management certification (essential).
- The ability to carry out basic safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessments.
- A strong understanding of health and safety and its impact on the workplace.
- The confidence to take responsibility and lead by example on site.
