Our client, Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking a Traffic Management Operative to join their Cheshire East Highways contract, based in Nantwich, on a permanent basis.

The Role

As a Traffic Management Operative, you will work as part of the highway maintenance operational team, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of works across the network. Your role will be hands-on and varied, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management systems on low-speed roads, including cones, signs, frames, sandbags, and associated equipment.
  • Installing, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic signals, from two-way traffic control through to multi-phase traffic control, ensuring correct installation and fully charged batteries.
  • Collecting traffic management equipment from sites upon project completion.
  • Completing and managing checklists to ensure all equipment and systems are fit for use and fully operational prior to deployment.
  • Supporting basic safety, quality, and environmental audits and risk assessments as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience delivering highway maintenance traffic management on site.
  • A current, valid driving licence (LGV Class 2 is desirable).
  • NHSS 12 A/B Traffic Management qualification (essential).
  • The ability to take responsibility for traffic management activities on site.
  • A good understanding of health and safety and its impact in the workplace.
  • The ability to carry out basic safety, quality, and environmental audits and risk assessments.
